Residence and work permit

Select the type of application according to your situation: (1) First permit issuance – if you have never had a single permit in Slovenia; (2) Extension – if you already have a valid permit of the same type and want to extend it; (3) Issuance for another purpose – if you already have a permit but want to change the purpose of residence (e.g., from student to employment).

The Unique Master Citizen Number (EMŠO) is a 13-digit number you received when you first registered your residence in Slovenia. EMŠO is mandatory for permit extension or change.

Enter your surname exactly as written in your passport or other official document. Use Latin letters.

Enter the surname you had before marriage (maiden name). If your surname has not changed or you have not married, leave the field empty.

Select your gender as stated in your passport or other official document.

Select the country of your citizenship. If you have dual citizenship, indicate the primary one.

Select your date of birth as stated in your passport.

Select your current marital status. Cohabitation is a long-term living arrangement between partners who have not married.

Select the country where you were born.

Enter the name of the city or town where you were born.

The 12-digit reference number is issued by the photographer who uploads the photo to the electronic repository (efoto.gov.si). If you don't have the number, leave the field empty – you will bring the photo in person.

Mark YES if you have a valid D visa (long-stay visa) issued by any EU member state.

Mark YES if you were a holder of an EU Blue Card in another member state (permit for highly qualified workers).

Mark YES if you were a holder of an intra-corporate transfer (ICT) permit in another EU country.

Mark YES if you were a holder of a researcher permit in another EU member state.

Select the country where you last had permanent or temporary residence.

Enter the name of the city or place of your last residence.

Enter the exact address of your last residence (street, house number).

Enter the address where you intend to reside in Slovenia. This field is required for the first application.

Select the country where you want to receive official mail. It can be in Slovenia or abroad.

Enter the complete address for receiving official mail (city, street, house number).

Select the date when you first entered Slovenia. This date is required for extension or change of permit.

Select the main reason for your stay in Slovenia. If your reason is not on the list, select "Other" and enter it in the field below.

If you selected "Other", enter your purpose of stay here.

Select the main source of means of subsistence in Slovenia. If your source is not on the list, select "Other" and enter it in the field below.

If you selected "Other", enter your source of means of subsistence here.

Select the type of travel document you use to prove your identity. Usually this is a regular passport. Diplomatic and official passports are issued to government officials.

Enter the passport number as stated in the document.

Select the date of passport issuance.

Select the country where the passport was issued.

Enter the place or authority that issued the document (e.g., Ljubljana, Moscow, Ministry of Interior RS).

Select the passport validity date. The passport must be valid for at least 3 months after the expected date of leaving Slovenia.

Select the type of health insurance you have or will obtain in Slovenia.

If you selected "Other", describe the type of your health insurance here.

Enter your Slovenian tax number (8 digits). You can obtain a tax number at the Financial Administration of the Republic of Slovenia.

Mark YES if you already have a valid work permit issued based on an international agreement. In this case, you do not need to fill in fields 20 to 31.

Enter the valid work permit number.

PDM form number (job vacancy report) submitted by the employer to the Employment Service. The employer will provide you with this number.

Select your highest level of education.

Select an occupation from the list or enter the SKP code manually. You can find the occupation code at stat.si/skp or ask your employer.

Select the job title from the list or enter it manually. The title is auto-filled based on the SKP code.

The description is auto-filled based on the selected position. You can adjust it if needed.

Select where you will perform work: at the employer's premises or in the field (e.g., construction site, various locations).

Enter the address or description of the location where you will work.

Select the level of education or qualification required by the employer for this position. You can find this information in the PDM form or ask your employer.

Specify other skills required for work: languages, driver's license, certificates, computer skills, etc.

Select the administrative unit where you submit the application.
